Knitting and Crochet classes - 4 week courses

Knitting and crochet classes are held in small groups, so students can work at their own pace. For knitting beginners we will cover the basics of knit, purl, cast on and cast off. Participants will begin a simple project of their own choice. Those with more experience will explore the huge range of patterns available on-line, or you may bring your own pattern and purchase wool in the shop. You will learn how to follow patterns and combine knit and purl stitches into more advanced techniques. Course fee: €25 per class or €90 for 4 classes.

Sewing Classes

Theresa Czerniak, founder of the Sewing Room, originally trained as a dress designer and has spent the last 25 years working in various creative areas in the world of fabric and design. She has worked in a wide range of fields, from designing garments in hand-woven tweed, making one-off pieces in leather and suede for rock bands, creating costumes and drapes for TV commercials and film to working with delicate silk and lace for beautiful bridal wear. Theresa has also spent ten years working alongside interior designers, making everything from heavy drapes for period houses to fine silk Japanese blinds, draping marquees for weddings and crafting giant butterflies for themed events. She just loves fabric! You can find out more on Theresa’s website www.thesewingroom.ie or join The Sewing Room on Facebook. The Sewing Room also sells a range of haberdashery, such as scissors, pins, threads, needles, zips and much more.

The 6-week Sewing for All courses have small class numbers and are therefore suitable for all levels, from the complete beginner, who wishes to take up a pair of jeans or alter a skirt, to the more experienced seamstress making a garment from a commercial pattern. Please contact Theresa prior to starting class to discuss what you wish to cover, as everyone will be working on their own project.  Some sewing machines are provided, but please feel free to bring your own.  Material is not provided but you will be supplied with some fabric to get you started in the first class. You should bring your own basic sewing kit: dressmaking scissors, pins, needles etc. (These items are available to purchase in the shop and at the class if necessary.) Course fee: €145.
